39 North Taproom & Grill

39 North Taproom & Grill
Located at 110 S MacDade Blvd, Glenolden, PA, 39 North Taproom & Grill is a charming neighborhood spot perfect for a casual dining experience. Though the atmosphere leans more toward a lively bar than a formal dining setting, the warmth of the space and the friendly service make it a welcoming destination for anyone looking for a relaxed meal.

One of the highlights of 39 North is its fantastic selection of food, with menu items that go beyond typical bar fare. Guests rave about the mussels and spaghetti, especially when paired with their signature Diavolo sauce (though a bit of extra red pepper flakes can add the heat for spice lovers). For something different, the baked clam special topped with BBQ sauce and cheese offers a delightful twist, surprising patrons with its unexpected but pleasant combination. The generous portion sizes, particularly with the mussels, make it a great choice for hearty appetites.

The establishment also serves a variety of beers on draft, which perfectly complements the atmosphere, especially when they host live music nights, like performances by Dave C. Matthews, which many regulars enjoy. For those with a penchant for specials, don’t miss the Sweet Thai Salmon with Risotto, a dish that has earned its spot as a favorite among diners.

Although the dining area can get a bit noisy, particularly with the lively music and chatter of regular patrons, the vibe is undeniably fun. The servers are attentive and always happy to offer recommendations, enhancing the overall experience. Whether you're stopping by before catching a flight or simply looking for a casual meal, 39 North Taproom & Grill provides a satisfying and enjoyable dining atmosphere.

In addition to its great food, the establishment’s convenient location near the airport makes it a popular choice for both locals and travelers alike. The friendly staff and comfortable setting ensure that patrons feel right at home during their visit.

Atmosphere was very dated more of a bar than a dining experience. However, the food was very good.

Decided to hang here before collecting our daughter from the PHL airport. Super easy to find with an adequate parking lot. The place was dark from the outside. I almost thought it was closed, but nope! There wasn't a big crowd, but it was a Monday at 7pm. A bunch of regulars enjoying the space. It was fairly loud with music. Super friendly folks working here. Our server was very sweet and made some recommendations as well as advised the specials for the night. Small hiccup with the beer I was served, but it was wet, so I drank the beer I was given. Ordered up the baked clam special. BBQ sauce and cheese was an odd combination, but actually quite good. I had the mussels and spaghetti for dinner. I asked for the Diavolo sauce, but not sure I received it. The sauce was not spicy at all, but some added red pepper flakes did the trick. The mussels were fantastic and a ton of them too. Spaghetti was cooked well and swimming in sauce. Small loaf of warmed bread for dipping. My wife had a chicken cutlet sandwich and she found it a bit bland if I'm being honest. She dipped her bread in my sauce to give it a bit more flavor. They put on the home run derby which was appreciated. All in all, a fun stop. Not quite sure I'd return unless I needed a place to hang before that next run to PHL. They were very nice and appreciative of the business and we enjoyed our time dining here.

Tonight's special: Sweet Thai Salmon with Risotto. Fantastic! The live music with Dave C. Matthews is wonderful. Great crowd of regulars. Great selection of beer on draft!

We came here because on the most recent Google review, it said, "The bartender did not wear a bra. Crowd is good, though." And it literally made us laugh out loud because all of the other reviews were great! The mozzarella sticks were awesome! The special was a filet with mashed & green beans. My boyfriend doesn't love steak, but he enjoyed the filet. It was cooked correctly, and the potatoes were yummy. The mozzarella sticks, though, were "chefs kiss" with gooey pulley cheese. The staff was friendly and the beer was cold. We were just traveling through, but if we are in this area again, we will certainly be back.

Different cheesesteak item #1089 in the last five years. A wednesday drinks and cheesesteaks with Amigo Dan. I was shocked how good the food was at 39 North Taproom and Grille. Prime Rib Sandwich was the daily special. Good balance of stuff (Cheddar Cheese, onion rings, BBQ sauce) that could have fought with each other. $15 and it came with steaks fries, you know I loved that!! Mad Elf on tap and I actually got through the night without doing anything overly stupid. I usually don't like a whole steak on a roll because it is sometimes hard to eat/bite and you get a fat hidden by the roll bite. This was easy to eat. I saw the fat so I didn't get a surprise fat bite.
